World Cup Diving
The World Aquatics Diving World Cup 2023 season takes place across three events in the lead up to the World Aquatics World Championships in Fukuoka in July. UK F-Teamer, Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, has been busy getting in as much competition as possible in the lead up to the World Champs.
From April 14-16th Andrea competed at the first stop of the series in China, winning bronze in the 10m individual platform and silver in the 10m synchro platform with partner Lois Toulson. Andrea was extremely happy with both of her events, diving to a new personal best, and was thrilled to be able to be amongst the Chinese on the podium. Andrea felt that it was a great competition where she could showcase both her individual performance and synchro performance. There was a great atmosphere and it was a beautiful pool and 10m with a really engaged and enthusiastic crowd. Andrea noted that "the environment made me excited to compete and do better. I had the goal of medalling and I did exactly that, getting a personal best also topped it off. I was working on consistency in training and in competition environments - which I felt I succeeded in. "

Earlier this month, up against her top competitors, Andrea produced the same results at the second stop of the tour in Montreal. Andrea told us "though I was very close to a personal best, and in the prelim I achieved my personal best, my finals were a great show of determination and drive. It was an extremely difficult competition, but I proved that even when not feeling 100%, I can achieve great things. Being amongst the best in the world and still pacing behind the Chinese is an incredible achievement."
After the second leg of the series, Andrea felt exhausted but proud of what she had achieved. Instead of giving in to fatigue and giving up, she powered through and was able to achieve great results. She noted that it was difficult but very rewarding and so she feels proud of the personal drive to be determined and persevere in the face of exhaustion. Andrea worked consistently with her coach to make improvements which were clear in competition and they were adamant on working on consistency both in individual dives but also in her approach to training.
Andrea is proud of the determination and personal drive both in training at home, abroad and in competition, all while still going to school and doing exams. She will be at home until July and has nationals in 2 weeks and then she will be focusing on her exams. She also has the World Championships in Fukoak and the super final in Berlin in August. Busy times for our Olympian F-Teamer Andrea! Be sure to follow Andrea to keep up with her exciting and demanding schedule. @andreassirieix04
