Julia Shines at Polish Nationals
The 2023 Polish National Championships took place in Olsztyn from April 26-29th. Swimmers were looking to use this meet as a chance to qualify for several international events including the World University Games and the LEN European U23 Championships. F-Teamer Julia Maik
Event: 100m butterfly
Time: 00:59.24
Place: 2
In the 100 Fly Julia was very pleased with the time she got, considering how much stress she was under in the lead up to the meet. She was happy to have reached the qualifying time required for the University Games and the European Championships U23 in this event. Julia noted, "the time I got shows that I did not show my full potential during the 100m butterfly race, but I hope to improve my time soon."
Event: 50m butterfly
Time: 00:26.42
Place: 3
Julia improved her personal best by almost half a second in the 50 Fly and was only one hundredth of a second behind the second place finisher, Joanna Swiatek.

Polish Nationals was one of Julia's main competitions and she is excited that she met the qualifying times for both the Universiade in China and the European Youth Championships in Ireland. While she doesn't feel that she was able to fully achieve the goals she set for herself for these competitions, she is confident that she will improve her results when she heads to the Czech Republic to race later this month. Then she can turn her attention to training for the European u23 Championships and the Universiade.
