Irish Superstar Mona McSharry

Mona showing off her Alba Wild Funkitas with fellow Irish F-Teamers.

Irish F-Teamer Mona McSharry has been racing hard and is breaking Irish national records left, right and centre. While she's usually kept busy with her training schedule, she managed to find time to join the Funky Trunks F-Teamers Brendan Hyland, Robbie Powell and Jack McMillan at the stunning Vico Baths, located just outside of Dublin. This spot proved to be the perfect location to show off the Funkita and Funky Trunks Off The Wall swimwear collection. Its incredible outlook and charming manmade structures blended together to make for an unforgettable photo shoot.

Mona started swimming after a close call when she fell into a pool while on holiday. From Mullaghmore, a town right on the coast near the Irish border, Mona primarily swam in the sea before joining the Marlins Swimming Club in Ballyshannon. Her competitive fire was ignited after watching the London 2012 Olympics and she started taking her swimming more seriously. Before long Mona started breaking records and now holds the Irish record for all the breaststroke distances as well as the 50m Freestyle.

Mona's first international competition was the 2017 Junior World Championships where she had great success, coming away with gold in the 100m Breaststroke and bronze in the 50m Breaststroke. This year Mona has been kept busy with a number of international meets. She competed at the European Championships in Glasgow, her first senior event, as well as heading to Buenos Aires for the Youth Olympic Games. It was in Buenos Aires that she managed to break the Irish 50m Freestyle record with a time of 25.42.

With her dedication to training and recent success on the international stage, it's no surprise that she has her eyes set to represent Ireland at Tokyo 2020.
