12 YR OLD STAR ANTONIA HURD JOINS F-TEAM

The Funkita F-Team is lucky enough to sponsor athletes who are dominating on the world stage. We can't wait to see what our stars in Belinda Hocking, Koti Ngawati, Taylor McKeown and Ellen Gandy can do at the Commonwealth Games in just over a month!

But it is always an exciting step when we are able to support the next generation of athletes, and 12 year old Antonia Hurd is the latest to join the F-Team.

Having only been swimming for three years, Antonia has been inspired by the older Funkita F-Team athletes, and has been clocking very impressive times and multiple gold medals at the recent Queensland State and Primary School Championships.

Training at the Helensvale Swimming Club under Jon Cook, Antonia swam the fastest times in Australia for an 11 year old girl in the 400m Free, 400 IM and 200 back.

This year, Antonia hopes to perform well at the National School Swimming Championships in July, before defending her Age titles at the QLD Championships in December.

Looking ahead, it is Antonia's dream to ultimately make the Olympic team for the 2020 Games in Japan where she can meet her idols, though we're sure by then her plan will be to beat them! We have no doubt that one day she will be the one inspiring younger swimmers and we're excited to be along for the journey.
